Young here, in the need to push myself harder.
Feeling a bit lost in the wind this summer. From start to beginning, I’ve been in need for a major push. Into something different, new, whatever really. In this life we never know what we what until we have it. Only to later question wether we really needed it in the end to be happy. Im here again with more juicy gossip. This past month I smiled, partied, laughed, and even cried. So many emotions occurred within the month of July. this entire month I questioned myself wether or not what I wanted was actually good for me. Bringing me to how everything started. Before pushing myself, I dipped into the water and had a house party!
The House Party
Everything had immediately come to me as I began driving to my best friends job. “House party?” I thought to myself. I mean why not have one? Being only twenty once, I’ve always wanted to throw a party, but sometimes turning thoughts into a reality can be tough. I was determined to see this idea through. I mean what else could stop me? My parents were going out of town for the weekend, and the house would be completely empty. So for the first week of July, I decided to push myself into having this unexpected house party.
Days after my idea, the night had come to having this party. I was thrilled, freaked, and completely in shock of what I was doing. While apart of me felt as if I was being completely rebellious, another part of me knew that this was the push I needed to later on initiate more opportunities within my life. After taking a deep breath, I began stocking the snacks and drinks and watched the party begin. My intuition told me to have this party, and like it or not I was having this party. After a couple drinks, people began rolling in, and everything went pretty well.
Later on, as the party ended I realized how important it is to listen to my voice, and intuition more.Without it, I couldn’t have trusted myself enough to believe that I could have pushed myself hard enough to employe a party like the one I had. Listening to myself after that seemed to become easier, and easier until I landed myself at Nasty Presses for a afternoon party.
The night was young and Nasty Press invited my friend and I to join them for their zine release full of fun and good music. So here I was, finding myself acknowledging the beautiful art around Baltimore. It was here, where I realized how important it is to trust yourself and intuition. So I did just that, and understood that going with your inner voice sometimes brings you the best surprises.
Nasty Press is a collective non-profit zine that collects art, writing, photography, and even more. They’re goal focuses on giving the people of Baltimore a voice to approach the world and respond to the political unrest. It was this very night, where I met up with my old friend Alysha who happens to also be one of the creators of the Nasty Press zine. After conversing, I realized just how important having outlets to voice your expression are. Bringing me back to why I blog, mainly because of my love for writing, which is my form of expressing my feelings.
That is how important finding your inner voice is. Without knowing our passions, we become blind to what we really want in life. Without a push into figuring that out, we simply do nothing but stay blind. Bringing me to 5 ways to finding your voice.
If you aren’t telling yourself what you want from life, then how will you know! Sure it might be crazy to talk yourself in public, but during your alone times definitely speak up. Say it out loud, and tell yourself what you want. Speaking to yourself about what you want from life will help you find your inner voice.
You know what they say, nothing happens to those who wait. The first step into finding your voice is to apply yourself in whatever it is that you love. Research the background in your passions, and take some notes. Practice makes perfect, so start practicing your passions, and get to it!
Sometimes the best ways in figuring out what you really want is to dig deeper into the soul. One of the ways into the soul is meditation, a technique I strongly recommend to increase you intuition, and inner voice. Think about a place, where you’re able to freely think about what you want. Meditation is a place with no judgement. Employing what you want while meditation, gives you a clear mindset to what you really want from your life. Allowing you to find your voice, by pushing harder things like this are more possible.
Repeat, repeat, repeat. Its important to know that the more you practice, the easier it becomes to attain a certain goal and mindset. I know for me, starting always felt harder then when I’ve repeated a task more then once. So get up, and start some repetition in pushing yourself to get what you want. A few good repetition habits I suggest include;
-Repeating good habits
-Stay on a consistent eating habit
-Repeat positive morning routines
Think from the heart
Sometimes you can’t get all the answers from the mind. So its important for us to try to think from the heart about what our hearts true desires really are. In doing this we can connect to our inner spirit, helping us truly understand what we really want from life.

In the end it’s all about freeing yourself from categories, brands, and whatever else that doesn’t work with you. Its important to figure out what you want, so ask yourself when you get a chance “What do you really want from life?” . I know for me its to have a world filled with happiness around me. I seek justice, and in the end rejuvenation.
So be witty but always stay fishy.
P.S. The song of the week goes to Pia Mia, in Do it Again. I can’t seem stop moving once its on!
